Liberty University is an evangelical Christian university that strives to develop students academically, spiritually, morally, socially, and professionally. Students at Liberty are given the tools to become leaders in a global society. The Liberty experience encourages academic curiosity, community spirit and the ambition to learn about and impact other cultures. Above all, Liberty University emphasizes the influence and teachings of the Bible, fostering a conservative Christian campus experience and Christ-centered curriculums.
Liberty University was founded in 1971 in Lynchburg, VA, and sits on a 5,000-acre campus that houses over 100 buildings. With an enrollment of over 28,000 students taking classes on campus and online, Liberty University serves an active community of students who participate in NCAA and intramural sports, 70 undergraduate programs and over 50 graduate programs. Liberty University is accredited by the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools and the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
Students at Liberty University have the freedom to customize their education based on in-class courses and online programs. Undergraduate programs range from Kinesiology and Mathematics to Biology and Spanish to Theatre Arts and Accounting to Multidisciplinary Studies and Criminal Justice. Graduate programs are offered in the following areas: Ministry, Pastoral Counseling, Professional Counseling, Education, Human Services, Communication, Nursing, Theology and others.
Liberty University instills in its students a Christ-centered lifestyle in academics, professional pursuits, and in social and personal choices. The Spiritual Life Department sponsors worship, fellowship and service programs that promote ministry and evangelism, as well as a sense of Christian community. The department also offers services to the student body, including counseling, discipleship services and crisis intervention.
